Ven. Professor Dhammavihari
Dear Friends in Dhamma,
We have lost a very valuable person.
His name was Venerable Dhammavihari thera. Earlier he was well known as Prof. Jothiya Dheerasekera at the Department of Pali and Buddhist studies in University of Peradeniya. He became a monk at the Bhikku raining center having the late most venerable Madihe Pannasiha Mahanayaka thera and most venerable Ampitiye Rahula maha thera as his great teachers and also our president of the Washington Buddhist Vihara, Ven. Maharagama Dhammasiri nayaka thera as his brother in the order of the Sangha. He also was residing at the Washington Buddhis Vihara a few years ago helping the vihara community with his valuable Dhamma Sermons.
He passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on February 13th at 3.00am.
There will be a sermon in memory of him on the February 19th, Friday at 7.30pm
May he attain supreme bliss of nibbana !
